The big picture

There is quite a lot of buzz around Data Portability those days but I'm afraid that it will result in no-ending discussions with nothing concrete in a near future. I hope I'm wrong and I totally respect all those peoples way smarter than me which represent Big Actors of our actual Giant Global Graph. Besides that, my main priority is not data portability but data ownership, once we've got the power data we'll see how to share this with other applications and how to deal with privacy.

To sum it up, I don't want to put my data in the cloud, I want my own cloud which interact with others' ones. What about current 2.0 services? If they are valuable, I can allow them to pick some information from my cloud and to do something with it.

Current progress

To me, the first step is identity. I'm currently working on the way to collect data from user (web interface + imports from other services). Once it's done, I will develop representation of those data and eventually privacy. The next step will handle contents and knowledges (blog posts/comments or DBpedia for instance). Then I'll communicate a bit more.

Technical stuff

I'll use Django and I sum up what I found in this topic on SemanticDjango website, all data will be stored in RDF and I plan to use standards like OpenID and OAuth for auth/privacy on top of FOAF, SIOC and APML representations (at least for the moment).

Why this name?

Well, it's hard to find a free domain name now and I had myOpenID as an inspiration source because this project is eventually one step further.

Who's behind this?

I'm just a geek, interested in semantic web and web development, actually I'm a Django freelance developer and Python addict too. You can find more informations on my blog (in French).

Just drop me an email. Looking for a mailing-list, a blog or something like that? That's not the right time, when it gets released you'll be informed, trust me.
